The vocal scores include seven copies in German published by Cranz (Leipzig, 1882?, pl. no. C. 25801), two of which are marked "Mc Caull version"; and 86 copies in English published by White, Smith (Boston, 1883, pl. no. 5114-180), two of which are labelled "Mc Caull version." The piano score was published by Cranz (1882?, pl. nos. C. 25801, C. 25834). The vocal parts include 17 English manuscript parts, 14 of which are marked "Mc Caull version," 11 German manuscript parts, and 4 German holographs. The chorus parts include 16 mimeoed English parts stamped "Mc Caull version, " 21 unmarked mimeoed English parts, 13 manuscript parts which lack text, 18 German holograph parts, and 4 miscellaneous tenor parts, one in German manuscript, two in English manuscript, and one holograph in German and English. Promptbooks include nine English manuscript books, three of which are marked or signed as the Mc Caull version, one "property of Al. Henderson," and one bears the stamp of Arthur Bell. Fifteen books in seventeen vols. are typescript English, four of which are for the Mc Caull version and list the cast of the American premiere and the date 1897. Nine books are mimeoed manuscript in English, and one is manuscript and typescript and includes printed lyrics pasted in. The German promptbooks include one typescript book, two manuscript books, and four holographs of which two are incomplete. The dialogue parts consists of 290 English typescript, 1 English manuscript, and 66 English holograph parts comprising several sets of varying completeness. Several sets are designated as the "Mc Caull version, " "version C, " or "version 6." The German dialogue parts include 42 manuscript parts, one set bearing the stamp of the Irving Place Theatre and another the dates 1883/4; and seven typescript parts. The lyrics are in German, published by Chas. Magnus (New York, 188-?).
